ARM Exchange Public Webinar: Sanding and Surface Finishing with Robotics

Manual sanding and finishing of components for various industries, like transportation, is a daunting task. It requires specific processes, can be very dirty, and is ergonomically difficult for human workers. In this webinar, recorded in February 2021, our panel of ARM Member experts discussed the latest developments in advanced manufacturing for sanding and finishing from a variety of perspectives, based upon their roles as manufacturers, robotics suppliers, and entrepreneurs.

  • Dr. Carley Mollica from Lockheed Martin: discusses how automation can be useful in sanding operations and why it makes business sense.
  • Michael Hass from FerRobotics: discusses some of the challenges in robotic sanding applications and how force sensors play a critical role in addressing their technical needs.
  • Cliff Tsugawa from Universal Robots: shows how collaborative robots can be used in challenging applications where humans and robots work side-by-side and full automation is not feasible.
  • Ariyan Kabir from GrayMatter Robotics: shows us how software can turn robots into smart assistants in surface finishing applications.
